T.G.I.F ~ 3/3

Happy Friday, dear reader!  I hope this week was a good one for you.  I’m dying for some sunshine – I can’t tell you how close I was to impulsively purchasing tickets down to Palm Springs this week.  Sunshhhineee, I miss you!  Please, come back.  Have a fantastic weekend everyone and I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Thought:  What a lovely sediment about all the behind-the-scenes work.  This is something I know to be true after watching my parents all my life and it’s something I try to keep at the forefront of my mind.  Cameron sent me this graphic with the caption, “Your blog!” and while I sure hope he is right, I think it’s a thought applicable to a myriad of things in life.

Gist:  My GUI (graphical user interface) trained mind thoroughly enjoyed this piece on how important typeface is and how it could have prevented the now infamous error at the Oscars.  So much truth!

Image:  Despite the cold and constant rain, our beautiful tulips are beginning to emerge (thanks, Dad!).

Find:  A bit random, but something that makes my life better on a weekly basis is my cast iron skillet/dutch oven!  My mom bought it for me a few months back (as a bribe to make them homemade bread ? ) and I’m in love – I wish I made this investment sooner! Just a few weeks ago, I was able to make a delicious french onion soup and a couple of loaves of homemade bread in the dutch oven and some seared chicken with the skillet. I think it’s wonderful that you can start a meal in the skillet and then pop it in the oven to finish. I would highly recommend the dutch oven/skillet combo because I’ve found I get a lot more mileage out of the investment than each one individually.  The exact model I have is here but when Mom and I got it, we coupon stacked at Cost Plus World Market if you have one of those near you? Good luck and please let me know if you try it!!!
