Welcome to Friday!  It’s been a crazy week at work for both Cameron and I so we are greatly looking forward to a weekend with no plans and few house projects.  We may go on a hike, we may go to brunch, we may go to the farmers market, or we may do none of the above.  Cheers to a long weekend of going with the flow!  Hope you have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend and I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Thought:  After my own heart.  Sometimes you don’t even need the mascara!  That coffee is non-negotiable though… 🙂

Gist:  Even though my job is highly technical, we also are tasked with articulating oftentimes complex information into a digestible message for our customers so all of coworkers are talented writers.  That means there’s often some strong debates with even stronger feelings on proper usage of English grammar.  This article from the New Yorker was presented as evidence this week and I thought it was a fascinating piece in it’s own right.  The diaeresis is not something I had ever thought about, to be honest, but its necessity makes a great deal of sense.  Grammar nerds unite!  Or just read the article.

Find:  Silk pillowcases!  I was first introduced to the concept of silk pillowcases via Emily on the Cupcakes and Cashmere blog who touted their benefits as being better for your hair, skin, cooler sleeping temperatures, and lower levels of toxicity than standard non-organic cotton.  I did a bit more digging and it turns out there’s both research and anecdotal evidence to back it up!  We’ve been using ours for over a month now and find them to have been a wonderful purchase.  Just make sure you get 100% silk from silkworms that eat only mulberry leaves.  We found ours on Amazon for about $25.

Soul-Food Saturday:  Set aside a few moments to give yourself some space to decompress.  Schedule a massage, download a meditation app, do a yoga video, or take a hot Epson salt bath.
